Hunyuan3D

by Tencent3D generatorOpen weights, free to run locally; hosted demo available

Tencent's open-source image-to-3D and text-to-3D model family with strong texture synthesis.

How to use Hunyuan3D with Blender

Run Hunyuan3D locally (or via a Hugging Face space / ComfyUI workflow), export the mesh as GLB or OBJ, and import into Blender.

Best for: Technical users who want free, local, unlimited image-to-3D generation with good textures.

What is Hunyuan3D?

Hunyuan3D is Tencent's open-source 3D generation family — one of the strongest freely available image-to-3D models. It splits generation into shape and texture stages, which gives it notably good texture quality for an open model.

Because the weights are open, it has become a staple of local AI 3D pipelines: ComfyUI workflows, Hugging Face spaces, and research forks. If you want generation without a subscription and have a GPU, this is a top pick.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Strength:Open weights — run locally, no credits or subscription
  • Strength:Strong texture synthesis for an open model
  • Strength:Active ComfyUI and Hugging Face ecosystem
  • Strength:Named in Google's AI Overview among the top 3D generators

Limitations

  • Limitation:Needs a capable GPU (or a hosted space) — not a one-click web app
  • Limitation:Setup is technical compared to Meshy or Tripo
  • Limitation:Topology, like all generative meshes, usually needs retopo for animation
